This week in the Turkish Parliament: DEM Party begins second Imralı tour, will Bahçeli speak?
In the new week at the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), the DEM Party Imralı Delegation will begin its visits to political parties. It has been learned that MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli will not hold a group meeting this week either.
Discussions on the Cybersecurity Law, of which 13 articles were accepted last week in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), will continue from where they left off this week.
CHANGES TO THE CYBERSECURITY LAW ON THE AGENDA
According to a report by Gazete Duvar, some changes were made during last week's discussions following criticism that certain articles in the proposal could pose a threat to freedom of expression. Article 8, which included 'granting the authority to search, copy, and seize without a court order to the head of cybersecurity,' was removed from the proposal. This week, changes are also expected regarding Article 16, which is considered to pose a risk in terms of freedom of the press and expression. The article in question stipulates prison sentences for those who create a perception of a data leak even if no such leak has occurred.
Following the completion of the discussions on the Cybersecurity Law, the Climate Law Proposal is planned to be brought to the Parliament's agenda.
BUSY AGENDA FOR PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEES
Two important committees will continue their work in Parliament this week. While the Kartalkaya Fire Investigation Committee deepens its examinations into the causes of the fire, the Committee on Preventing Violence and Discrimination Against Women will continue to work on proposed solutions.
DEM PARTY BEGINS IMRALI TOUR IN PARLIAMENT
It will also be a busy week in terms of the political agenda. The DEM Party will begin its political contacts regarding the new term with the CHP. Visits to the AK Party and MHP will take place on Monday of the following week.
GROUP MEETINGS: WILL BAHÇELİ SPEAK THIS WEEK?
Statements by political parties regarding the new process will be closely followed. Leaders will deliver their messages on the agenda during their weekly group meetings. MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli, who underwent heart valve surgery, is not expected to hold a group meeting this week either.
PREPARATIONS FOR PRIMARY ELECTIONS CONTINUE IN CHP
Work continues on the primary election process for the CHP's presidential candidate, which will be held on March 23. Ekrem İmamoğlu, the sole candidate for the primary, will continue his programs over the weekend to explain the reasons for his candidacy.
