Thodex founder Faruk Fatih Özer found dead in prison
Faruk Fatih Özer, the founder of the cryptocurrency exchange Thodex, has been found dead in a prison in Tekirdağ.
Faruk Fatih Özer, the founder of the Thodex cryptocurrency exchange, was found dead in his single-person cell at the Tekirdağ F-Type High-Security Closed Penal Institution. Özer had been arrested on charges of defrauding a large number of people, and a prison sentence of 11 thousand 190 years and 6 months had been requested for him.
Özer, who was captured in Albania and extradited to Turkey, was found hanging in his prison bathroom. An examination by officials confirmed that Özer had passed away. It is suspected that the incident may be a suicide, and an investigation has been launched accordingly. Özer was facing charges of 'establishing and managing an organization, being a member of an organization', 'qualified fraud', and 'laundering of assets'.
