Thousands of liters of illicit fuel seized in drone-assisted operation
As a result of a planned operation in Iğdır, 8,916 liters of illicit fuel and equipment used for transfer were found at an address where illegal fuel was being stored; two suspects were taken into custody.
Teams from the Iğdır Police Department's Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch took action as part of efforts to prevent the trade of customs-smuggled fuel in the city. Utilizing technological resources, the teams identified a warehouse being used for the filling of illicit fuel during drone-assisted inspections. The activity at the identified address was monitored and recorded by the teams for a period of time.
Following the preparations, simultaneous raids were conducted on two separate workplaces. During the search of the warehouse in question, a total of 8,916 liters of customs-smuggled fuel and two devices used for fuel transfer were seized.
Two individuals were apprehended and taken into custody during the operation, and an investigation has been launched into the suspects.
Authorities emphasized that the seized illicit fuel and equipment have been handed over to the prosecutor's office and that their fight against fuel smuggling continues unabated throughout the city. It was reported that the police processing of the detained individuals is ongoing.
