Time set for 13 districts in Istanbul: Heavy snowfall is coming

Turkey left 2025 behind with cold weather and entered 2026 with freezing temperatures across almost the entire country. According to meteorological data, this cold weather, which has taken the country under its influence, will remain effective in Istanbul until the middle of January.

ISTANBUL WELCOMED 2026 WITH A WHITE BLANKET

In the first minutes of the new year in Istanbul, snowfall was effective in the regions located in the north of the city. While the cold weather continues to affect Istanbul, snowfall was observed in some districts in the north of the city.

Due to the effect of the snow falling in Arnavutköy and Sarıyer on the European Side, the ground was covered with a white blanket in a short time. On the Anatolian Side, snowfall was effective in high-altitude areas such as Beykoz and Sarıyer.

SUDDEN SNOWFALL EFFECTIVE IN 13 DISTRICTS

While the cold weather continues to affect the megacity, precipitation masses currently on their way from the Black Sea will cause sudden and heavy snow between 13.00 and 16.45 in the districts of Beykoz, Sarıyer, Şile, Ümraniye, Çekmeköy, Üsküdar, Beşiktaş, Ataşehir, Sancaktepe, Sultanbeyli, Eyüpsultan, Şişli, and Kağıthane.

The statement shared by Hava Forum on its social media account is as follows:

"It is estimated that the precipitation masses currently on their way from the Black Sea will cause sudden and heavy snow between 13.00 and 16.45 in Istanbul, especially in the vicinity of Beykoz, Sarıyer, Şile, Ümraniye, Çekmeköy, Üsküdar, Beşiktaş, Ataşehir, Sancaktepe, Sultanbeyli, Eyüpsultan, Şişli, and Kağıthane.
