TOKİ lottery in Istanbul: Erdoğan targets CHP again! 'They are only interested in siphoning off municipalities'

AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the lottery ceremony held for the TOKİ Istanbul 100,000 housing project.

Speaking at the event, Erdoğan targeted CHP-run municipalities.

"The main opposition's dreams cannot even reach the levels we have achieved. They never go beyond throwing mud," said Erdoğan, adding, "We are focused on getting work done and creating lasting projects. They, however, are focused on siphoning off municipalities. Our agenda includes building up all our cities, including Istanbul. They have towers of cash. They have baklava boxes filled with euros. They have million-dollar bribery deals."

"THE SOLUTION FOR ISTANBUL IS URBAN TRANSFORMATION"

Stating that Istanbul's urgent agenda is 'urban transformation,' Erdoğan said, "The only solution for Istanbul's safety is urban transformation. Istanbul has no agenda more urgent than this. Come, evaluate these campaigns. Take action to renovate your building."

"Today, we are once again on the same side, with the same sentiment, and the same determination as our nation. Istanbul is our city of vision, our gateway to the world, and the apple of our eye.

I wish that the 100,000 housing units, for which we are drawing lots as part of our 500,000 social housing project, will be auspicious for our Istanbul, our country, and our nation. I wish healthy, peaceful, and prosperous lives to the citizens who will reside in these homes.

“THE ONLY SOLUTION IS URBAN TRANSFORMATION”

Cities are the identity cards of nations. They are the title deeds of civilizations. 

We are striving to make our cities more resilient to earthquakes. Through TOKİ housing, we have provided modern living spaces for more than 6 million of our citizens. We did not view this issue merely as new housing areas. We worked to reduce the stock of risky buildings. To date, we have built 1 million 762 thousand social housing units through TOKİ.

The only solution for Istanbul's safety is urban transformation. Istanbul has no agenda more urgent than this. Come, evaluate these campaigns. Take action to renovate your building. 

After February 6, when we lost more than 53 thousand of our lives, we laid the foundations for earthquake housing in 15 days. We delivered the first keys in 45 days. We rebuilt our 11 provinces. In less than a year since the earthquake, we delivered over 455 thousand homes and workplaces to disaster victims. 

We gritted our teeth and worked hard, ignoring the 'earthquake tourists.' We gave the best answer by achieving a historic success. Education, trade, and social life have regained their former vitality in our earthquake-affected cities.

HE TARGETS CHP AGAIN

Grown men have left their work and duties to turn their backs on a mehter band consisting of children. We can do nothing but pray that God gives them some common sense. 

We had launched our 500,000 social housing mobilization. We have concluded the lottery draw we started on December 29. 

We will offer our housing for sale with state guarantees, with 100 percent down payments and maturity options of up to 240 months. Installments will range between 7 thousand 313 liras and 11 thousand liras. Our citizens will become homeowners with long-term, low-installment payments. 

Following the lottery draw, foundations will be laid, and we will deliver the homes to our citizens. 

We are starting our rental social housing practice in Istanbul and establishing a rental system through TOKİ. We will take the first step of the project with 15 thousand rental social housing units. Best of luck.
