Torture statement from kidnapped IMM Deputy General Manager: 'If you hadn't come, they would have shot me in the head'

Erhan Karaal, Deputy General Manager of IMM Kültür A.Ş., who is among the defendants standing trial without arrest in the ongoing IMM case in Silivri, was kidnapped in front of his home. As a result of the efforts of security teams, Karaal was found alive.

While the first information regarding the health status of Karaal, who was kidnapped near his home in Maltepe the night before last, was shared by his lawyer, a large number of suspects have been detained within the scope of the investigation.

KIDNAPPED WHILE WALKING WITH HIS CHILDREN

According to the information obtained, Erhan Karaal was targeted by unidentified individuals while he was walking with his children near his home in Maltepe.

According to the statement made by his lawyer, Tayfun Taşlıoğlu, it was stated that Karaal was beaten by individuals who got out of a vehicle that approached him, and he was kidnapped after being forced into the car.

Following the incident, a large-scale operation was launched by security forces.

INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN BY THE CHIEF PUBLIC PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE

It was learned that the Kartal Chief Public Prosecutor's Office intervened following Karaal's kidnapping.

It was reported that the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office authorities gave the necessary instructions to law enforcement agencies to identify and apprehend the suspects involved in the incident.

Police teams conducted a multi-faceted investigation to find the kidnapped Erhan Karaal.

REMARKABLE STATEMENT FROM HIS LAWYER

Speaking to Gazete Pencere, Lawyer Tayfun Taşlıoğlu announced that Erhan Karaal was found in a construction area in the morning hours.

Taşlıoğlu stated that his client had been tortured and was not in a condition to provide a statement.

According to the lawyer, Karaal used the following expression to the police teams who found him:

"If you hadn't come, they would have shot me in the head."

Tayfun Taşlıoğlu stated that Erhan Karaal was severely traumatized due to the treatment he was subjected to.

While it was learned that the necessary procedures have been initiated to evaluate Karaal's health status, it was stated that the incident is being investigated in all its aspects.

ALLEGATION REGARDING IMM EMPLOYEE

Lawyer Taşlıoğlu also made a remarkable allegation regarding Tolga Tetik, an employee of IMM Kültür A.Ş., whose statement was taken within the scope of the investigation.

Taşlıoğlu alleged that Tolga Tetik had connections with the individuals who carried out the kidnapping.

The lawyer stated, "The police teams likely found Karaal based on Tetik's statement."

No confirmation has been made by official authorities regarding the aforementioned allegation.

ARMED SUSPECT CAUGHT WHERE KARAAL WAS FOUND

Within the scope of the investigation, a suspect was detained in the structure where Erhan Karaal was found.

It was learned that the suspect, who was stated to be armed, said in his initial statement that he only brought food to the area.

In the examination conducted by security units, it was determined that the detained person had 22 separate criminal records.

8 SUSPECTS IN CUSTODY

It was reported that the number of detentions has increased in the investigation carried out regarding the kidnapping incident.

It was stated that a total of 8 suspects, who are considered to be connected to the incident, have been detained.

While the procedures for the suspects at the police station continue, it was learned that the investigation is continuing in a multi-faceted manner in order to uncover the instigators of the incident and all their connections.

It was reported that new evidence is being evaluated in the investigation regarding the kidnapping of IMM Kültür A.Ş. Deputy General Manager Erhan Karaal and his being found alive.
