Tourist family visiting Bodrum stirs up UK: They claimed a perforated esophagus, but it turned out to be gastritis

Ronni Douglas, who came to a 4-star hotel in Bodrum for a vacation from Birmingham, England, with her mother and sister, fell ill on the fifth day of her holiday and was taken to the hospital. The incident, which caused a stir in the UK media and on social media, including in one of the country's leading newspapers, The Sun, was reported as follows: "It was claimed that Douglas's esophagus was perforated due to the food she ate and that she was being treated in the intensive care unit, and it was stated that she was still in critical condition."

Ronni Douglas's older sister, Fallon Douglas, stated the following in her statement to British newspapers:

'DOCTORS ARE ASKING FOR 5 THOUSAND POUNDS FOR SURGERY'

"My sister had come for her birthday vacation. Our holiday turned into an unimaginable nightmare. Ronni Douglas needs emergency surgery within 48 hours for a perforated esophagus that is life-threatening. We know that the insurance does not cover this and the doctors are asking for 5,000 pounds for the surgery. We have already spent 1,000 pounds so far. We want to urgently transfer my sister to England, but we do not have the power to pay this money," she said.

It emerged that relatives of the Douglas family had launched a fundraising campaign in the UK for Ronni Douglas. In the campaign introduction, it was stated: "Your donations, regardless of the amount, will make a tangible difference in ensuring she receives the treatment she urgently needs. This is the most difficult time our family has ever faced, and knowing that we have a community of people who care gives us hope and strength."

THE TRUTH TURNED OUT TO BE 'GASTRITIS'

According to the news in Sözcü, it was revealed that Ronni Douglas arrived at the emergency department of Bodrum State Hospital on August 17, and after being examined by emergency physician Ergün Kaçar, she was diagnosed with "gastritis" and discharged on the same day following medical intervention.
