Traffic congestion in Istanbul due to rainy weather

Istanbul experienced traffic congestion during the morning hours due to the rain that began overnight. It was noted that the rainfall was particularly impactful on the 15 July Martyrs Bridge, Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, and the Eurasia Tunnel, specifically affecting transitions from the Anatolian Side to the European Side and their connecting roads.

On the Anatolian Side, traffic density was observed in both directions on the D-100 highway between the Kartal and Eurasia Tunnel areas. Vehicles moved slowly on the TEM Highway in the Ataşehir, Ümraniye, Kavacık, and Sancaktepe locations, as well as at the Çamlıca toll booths.

On the European Side, traffic was heavy on the D-100 highway in the Avcılar, Bahçelievler, Haliç Bridge, Şişli, and Mecidiyeköy locations. Traffic congestion also occurred on the TEM Highway in the Kağıthane area, with vehicles moving slowly, especially on the highway's connecting roads to the D-100.

Due to the rainfall, minor traffic accidents occurred in some regions. Crowds were observed, particularly at bus and metrobus stops, as citizens headed to work.

According to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Traffic Density Map, traffic congestion was measured at 74 percent at 09:05.
