Tragedy on the way to a wedding in Bornova: Their 5-month-old baby is all that remains

A traffic accident that occurred at night in the Bornova district of İzmir has devastated a family. Haydar Aslan and his wife Ecemnur Aslan, who were on their way to a wedding, lost their lives in an accident caused by a vehicle that crossed into the opposite lane. The couple's five-month-old baby and the young driver who caused the accident were seriously injured.

The accident occurred around 23:45 on the Ankara Asphalt, near the Ambarlar Junction. The car with license plate 35 ARR 259, driven by 24-year-old E.E., was traveling from the direction of Kemalpaşa toward Bornova when it lost control for an as-yet-undetermined reason, crossed the median, and entered the opposite lane. The swerving vehicle collided with the car with license plate 34 KSP 882, driven by Haydar Aslan, which was traveling from Bornova toward Kemalpaşa at the time.

VEHICLES REDUCED TO WRECKAGE

Due to the impact, the car driven by E.E. flipped over and skidded, while Haydar Aslan's vehicle came to a stop after hitting the barriers. Citizens who witnessed the accident immediately reported the incident to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Numerous police, medical, and fire department teams were dispatched to the scene.

Medical teams arriving at the scene determined that Gendarmerie Specialist Sergeant Haydar Aslan, who served in the traffic unit of the Menderes District Gendarmerie Command, and his wife Ecemnur Aslan had died after being trapped inside the vehicle. The 5-month-old baby, V.E.A., who was seriously injured, was taken by ambulance to Ege University Faculty of Medicine Hospital.

The driver who caused the accident, E.E., was taken to Bornova Türkan Özilhan State Hospital after initial intervention and was later transferred to Bayraklı City Hospital when their condition worsened. It was stated that both E.E. and V.E.A. remain in critical condition.

THEY WERE GOING TO HIS SISTER'S WEDDING

It was learned that the late Haydar Aslan was traveling with his wife and baby to his hometown of Kırşehir to attend his sister's wedding. The bodies of the couple who lost their lives in the accident were taken to the İzmir Forensic Medicine Institute morgue following the prosecutor's investigation at the scene.

ROAD CLOSED TO TRAFFIC FOR 3 HOURS

Due to the accident, the Ankara Asphalt was closed to traffic for approximately 3 hours. While drivers were directed to alternative routes, the two vehicles involved in the accident were reduced to wreckage. Traffic flow returned to normal after the vehicles were removed from the road with the help of a tow truck.

It was reported that the investigation into the accident is being meticulously conducted by the Bornova District Police Department.
