Transits resume in the Strait of Hormuz: First traffic following the ceasefire

Following the temporary ceasefire agreement reached between the US and Iran, the first cargo ships have begun passing through the Strait of Hormuz after it remained closed for weeks. The activity in the strait, which is of critical importance for global energy transport, has also been confirmed by international maritime monitoring sources.

Following the two-week temporary ceasefire agreement reached between the US and Iran, conditioned on US President Donald Trump's demand for the full opening of the Strait of Hormuz, the first ships have passed through the strait.

According to information reflected in real-time ship tracking systems, the Liberian-flagged cargo ship named Daytona Beach began its voyage at 08:28 after departing from Iran's Bandar Abbas port, and reached the Gulf of Oman by passing through the Strait of Hormuz at 09:59. The destination of the vessel in question was recorded as the Port of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates.

Later in the same day, the NJ Earth cargo ship, owned by a Greece-based company, also passed through the strait at 11:44. These developments are being evaluated as an indicator that traffic is returning to normal on the critical energy route between the East and the West.
