Treasury demanded return of election aid, HDP refused: Where is the 400 million TL?
Former AKP deputy Şamil Tayyar announced that the process regarding the return of approximately 400 million liras in Treasury aid has been taken to court, as the HDP participated in the 2023 elections under the banner of the Green Left Party (Yeşil Sol Parti). Tayyar stated that the file is currently with the Court of Cassation and pointed to the upcoming outcome.
Former AKP deputy Şamil Tayyar brought a striking issue to the agenda in a post on his social media account.
Recalling that the HDP entered the May 14, 2023, elections under the umbrella of the Green Left Party due to the possibility of being shut down, Tayyar noted that along with the HDP, left-wing parties such as the EHP, TÖP, and EMEP also formed an alliance under the same roof.
I want to open a new file that will occupy the political agenda.

As you know.
The HDP participated in the May 14, 2023, elections as the Green Left Party, taking into account the possibility of its closure.
Left-wing parties such as the EHP, TÖP, and EMEP also formed an alliance with the HDP under the Green Left Party umbrella...
According to Tayyar, approximately 400 million liras in election aid was provided to the HDP by the Treasury as required by law during the election process. However, it was stated that the Treasury demanded the return of said aid because the HDP did not enter the election under its own name.
In the post, it was stated that the HDP rejected the return request on the grounds that they "participated in the election as an alliance," while the Treasury presented a counter-argument that they "entered the election as a new party, not as an alliance." Stating that the dispute between the parties has been taken to court, Tayyar noted that the file is currently under review by the Court of Cassation.
Tayyar concluded his post with the words, "Let's see what the fate of the 400 million liras will be, let's watch."
Tayyar's post is as follows:
"I want to open a new file that will occupy the political agenda.
As you know.
The HDP participated in the May 14, 2023, elections as the Green Left Party, taking into account the possibility of its closure.
Left-wing parties such as the EHP, TÖP, and EMEP also formed an alliance with the HDP under the Green Left Party umbrella.
No party participated in the alliance with its corporate identity as in other alliances; they entered the election as the Green Left Party.
Meanwhile, the Treasury provided approximately 400 million liras in election aid to the HDP as required by law.
When the HDP did not enter the election with its corporate identity, the Treasury demanded the return of the election aid.
While the HDP rejected the return request by saying 'we participated in the election as an alliance,' the Treasury insisted with the claim that 'you entered as a new party, not an alliance.'
The matter has become a legal case, and the subject is now at the Court of Cassation.
Let's see what the fate of the 400 million liras will be, let's watch."
