Treatment continues for kitten that makes chicken sounds

Estimated to be about 60 days old and weighing 600 grams, the stray kitten was taken to a veterinary clinic by an animal lover recently due to its inability to eat and persistent vomiting. The kitten, which also makes chicken-like sounds for unknown reasons, was taken under care at the clinic where it was brought. Following examinations, it was determined that the kitten was making these sounds due to an enlargement in its esophagus. Consequently, a special feeding program and medication treatment were initiated. The health condition of the kitten, whose illness had progressed, has been brought under control over time through the efforts made. The veterinary clinic, which is making great efforts to ensure the treatment process is successful, is now looking for a suitable home to adopt the kitten.

UNDER CONTROL

Veterinarian Evren Fatih Mumcu said, "We named her 'Kupa'. Kupa came from the street. An animal lover brought her to us for treatment. She wasn't eating and was vomiting. We performed the necessary X-ray diagnostics and saw an enlargement in her esophagus. We realized there was a pathology. As a result, we are feeding her in a special way and she is using her medication. We expect improvement in her esophagus in the coming period because her vomiting is currently under control. If her treatment is successful, we would like to put her up for adoption if we find a suitable candidate."

CLUCKING LIKE A CHICKEN

Addressing the fact that the kitten makes chicken-like sounds due to its condition, Mumcu stated, "The reason for this sound is that because the esophagus is excessively enlarged, it puts pressure on the trachea and pharynx. From time to time, it creates vibrations there, and our cat makes sounds like a chicken clucking, but we expect this to improve. We have seen such cases. The disease of esophageal enlargement is megaesophagus, but not every patient makes such sounds. In this cat, the disease is most likely a bit advanced."

WILL BE PUT UP FOR ADOPTION

Fatih Mumcu also shared the information that they cannot administer any vaccines at the moment because the kitten weighs 600 grams, and continued his words as follows:
"We will administer a special vaccine. If she doesn't catch any diseases during this process, we will put her up for adoption afterward, but she is still a cat from the street and is susceptible to diseases. She has started to gain weight. She was thinner when she first arrived. We are currently feeding her in a way that goes directly to her stomach by keeping her upright. Kittens can sometimes eat foreign objects or have developmental disorders. As is the case with this cat. That is why if such symptoms occur in kittens, they should be examined as soon as possible, because diseases in kittens heal and can be resolved much faster. We want to put this cat up for adoption. So those who are interested can reach out to us, but of course, after her treatment is finished. We are looking for someone who can feed her the way we do."
