Press Release Regarding the Removal of the Mayor of Bahçesaray (Van) by the Ministry of Interior

Bahçesaray (Van) Mayor Ayvaz Hazır's

a) Within the scope of Van 4th High Criminal Court case file number 2022/196, for the crime of "COMMITTING A CRIME ON BEHALF OF THE

PKK/KCK ARMED TERRORIST ORGANIZATION WITHOUT BEING A MEMBER"

receiving a SENTENCE OF 3 YEARS, 1 MONTH, AND 15 DAYS IN PRISON, and

b) Within the scope of Van 2nd High Criminal Court case file number 2023/130, for the crime of "ENGAGING IN PROPAGANDA FOR THE

PKK/KCK ARMED TERRORIST ORGANIZATION," the investigation is ongoing

due to,

Ayvaz Hazır has been suspended from duty as a temporary measure by the Ministry of Interior in accordance with Article 127 of the Constitution and Article 47 of the Municipal Law No. 5393.

pursuant to Articles 45 and 46 of the Municipal Law No. 5393 Bahçesaray District Governor Harun Arslanargun, has been appointed by the Van Governorship as the Deputy Mayor of Bahçesaray.

Bahçesaray Mayor Ayvaz Hazır stated, “Let them know that we are the people of Bahçesaray. We stand tall together with the people of Bahçesaray. Our Bahçesaray is not just limited to a municipal building.”

Bahçesaray Mayor Ayvaz Hazır, who was removed from office by the Ministry of Interior and replaced by a trustee, arrived in front of the municipal building and made a brief statement.

IT BECAME THE 8TH MUNICIPALITY TO HAVE A TRUSTEE APPOINTED

Previously, trustees were appointed to the municipalities of Hakkari on June 5, Esenyurt on October 31, Mardin, Batman, and Halfeti on November 4, and Tunceli and Ovacık on November 22. Thus, the number of municipalities that have had trustees appointed since the March 31 elections has risen to 8.
