Tsunami warning issued after consecutive earthquakes in Japan! JMA makes statement

Consecutive earthquakes occurring off the coast of Ishikawa Prefecture in western Japan have triggered a tsunami warning in the region. While the first earthquake measured 5.7 in magnitude, it was immediately followed by a larger tremor measuring 7.4.

According to a statement from the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), the earthquakes that occurred on the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa took place at 16:06 local time at a depth of 10 kilometers with a magnitude of 5.7, and at 16:10 at a shallow depth with a magnitude of 7.4.

A tsunami warning was issued across the region following the earthquakes. According to the warning, waves between 3 and 5 meters in height are expected to reach the regional coastline before 17:00 local time.

The tremors were felt throughout Ishikawa, and their effects were also felt in surrounding prefectures as well as in the capital, Tokyo, and its vicinity. Precautionary measures have begun to be taken in the region due to the tsunami warning.
