Controversial post from TÜGVA: Speech by Atatürk-foe Mısıroğlu shared on October 29

The Turkey Youth Foundation, which is managed by Bilal Erdoğan, son of AKP President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, shared a speech on the social media platform X on October 29, Republic Day, by Kadir Mısıroğlu, who is known for his hostility toward Atatürk and secularism.

While the 101st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Turkey was celebrated with great enthusiasm in all 81 provinces of the country on October 29, Republic Day, the Turkey Youth Foundation, managed by Bilal Erdoğan, son of AKP President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, made a different choice on such a day and shared a speech by Kadir Mısıroğlu, known for his hostility toward Atatürk.

A video featuring a speech by Kadir Mısıroğlu was shared via the foundation's Istanbul branch account on the social media platform X.

In the relevant speech, Mısıroğlu says, "Be with beautiful people, with loyal people. Because you even receive an influence from the person whose hand you shake." 

Mısıroğlu, known for his open hostility toward the Republic, secularism, and Atatürk, had not hesitated to use the expressions, "They will mock me, but I wish the Greeks had won. The Caliphate would not have been abolished. Sharia would not have been abolished. Madrasas would not have been abolished. Religious scholars would not have been hanged. None of it would have happened." 

So-called palace historian Kadir Mısıroğlu died at the age of 86 on May 5, 2019, due to multiple organ failure while receiving treatment at a hospital for a long-term illness.
