Tuncer Bakırhan: The fundamental problem is forcing everyone into a single identity

The points announced following the PKK's so-called congress continue to be debated on the political agenda.

While various interpretations are being made regarding the terrorist organization's expectations, DEM Party Co-Chair Bakırhan made assessments regarding the agenda during a live broadcast on the TV100 channel.

"IT SHOULD NOT BE PROLONGED"

Regarding the decision to dissolve, Bakırhan stated, "The process of laying down arms should not be prolonged.

Prolonging the process could lead to certain provocations, sabotage, and the involvement of those who view the process negatively in different ways.

We need to bring this process to a conclusion without dragging it out."

Bakırhan explained his party's view on the definition of citizenship in the Constitution as follows:

"Not all of the 85 million people living in Turkey are Turkish. We are all citizens of the Republic of Turkey.

The blood of all our grandfathers is in Çanakkale.

The sweat of our grandfathers is on every stone of this country. This geography belonged to all of us, and we have been living together in this geography for centuries.

Therefore, forcing everyone into a single identity is one of the fundamental problems. A definition that encompasses all differences would, of course, be better."

Bakırhan rejected the claim regarding demands for autonomy with the words, "If we had wanted autonomy, we would have asked for it openly."
