Turhan Çömez reacts to Özgür Özel's 'vote request': 'Don't ask our base, ask the DEM'

İYİ Party Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality mayoral candidate Turhan Çömez, regarding the banner controversy with CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, said: "Persistent calls began, saying 'We are asking for votes from İYİ Party members.' We have to protect our own rights politically. I just told Mr. Özgür Özel, 'Do not ask for votes from our base. If you have such a demand, ask for your votes from the DEM Party members.'"

Turhan Çömez reacts to Özgür Özel's 'vote request': 'Don't ask our base, ask the DEM'

Çömez made statements on the program 'Doğru Yorum' (Correct Commentary) with Başak Şengül, broadcast on tv100. Connecting to the live broadcast and making statements regarding the local elections, İYİ Party's Çömez responded to Başak Şengül's question, "Why did you have this banner hung?" with the following remarks:

"Mr. Özgür Özel repeatedly called on our Chairwoman Meral Akşener for me to withdraw from my candidacy. We said, no, we are continuing. Of course, apart from this, these persistent calls continued in the field with increasing intensity.

A debt allegation was put forward, and we explained to the public that this was not true either. Persistent calls began, saying 'We are asking for votes from İYİ Party members.' We have to protect our own rights politically.

I just told Mr. Özgür Özel, 'Do not ask for votes from our base. If you have such a demand, ask for your votes from the DEM Party members.'

I got up and hung this banner in a very civilized manner on my 83-year-old mother's balcony. And the response was, 'You are appearing on channels thanks to us.' Are you a media owner? Does such an expression befit the chairman of a party?"
