Turkey blanketed in white: Roads closed!
14 village roads in Muş and 46 in Sivas have been closed to traffic; vehicles were stranded in Siirt. Disruptions in transportation are also being reported in Van, Bitlis, and Hakkari due to snow and blizzards.
Following warnings issued by the General Directorate of Meteorology (MGM), sleet and, in some places, snow have begun to take effect in the Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia regions. The precipitation was expected to be particularly heavy in the vicinity of Bitlis, Muş, Siirt, Şırnak, and Hakkari, as well as the southwest of Van. Following the warnings, transportation disruptions occurred in these regions due to snow and blizzards, with some village roads closing and vehicles becoming stranded.
46 VILLAGE ROADS CLOSED IN SIVAS
Due to the heavy snowfall and blizzards in Sivas, 46 village roads have been closed to traffic. While the Provincial Special Administration has mobilized to reopen the closed roads, efforts are continuing in areas where priority is given to emergency situations such as illness, childbirth, and death. Cold weather continues to affect the province, including the city center.
STRANDED VEHICLES RESCUED IN SIIRT
In Siirt, 4 vehicles became stranded on the Geçittepe group village road due to heavy snowfall. Following the incident, Provincial Special Administration teams were dispatched to the area. With the rapid intervention of the teams, the vehicles were moved to safe areas, and no negative incidents occurred.
14 VILLAGE ROADS CLOSED IN MUŞ
Snow and blizzards that were effective during the night in Muş caused disruptions in transportation. Provincial Special Administration Secretary General Şeyhmus Yentür reported that 14 village roads have been closed. Snow removal teams are continuing their efforts to reopen the closed roads, working day and night to ensure that citizens do not face further grievances.
SNOW REMOVAL EFFORTS CONTINUE IN VAN
In Van, the cold weather that has persisted for two days gave way to snow in higher elevations, and the Başkale and Bahçesaray districts were blanketed in white. Drivers experienced difficult moments due to snow and fog at the Karabet Pass on the Van-Bahçesaray highway and the Güzeldere Pass on the Van-Hakkari highway. The 11th Regional Directorate of Highways and municipal teams have launched snow removal operations to keep the roads open.
PARKS BLANKETED IN WHITE IN BITLIS
The snow that was effective in Bitlis covered vehicles and parks in white during the morning hours. It was stated that snow removal teams are kept on standby at certain points for emergency situations. While the snow has negatively affected daily life in the city, authorities have warned citizens to be cautious.
SNOW CLEARING OPERATIONS CONTINUE IN HAKKARI
