Turkey declares 1-day mourning for Haniyeh
Following the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh, Turkey has declared a 1-day national mourning period.
President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced in a post on his social media account that a 1-day national mourning period has been declared in Turkey for Friday, August 2. Erdoğan stated that this decision was taken to show support for the Palestinian Cause and solidarity with Palestinian brothers and sisters.
Erdoğan also added, "I commemorate Ismail Haniyeh and all Palestinian martyrs with mercy, and I extend my condolences to the Palestinian people on behalf of myself and my nation."
