Turkey enters the new week with rainy weather: Temperatures will drop suddenly! Special warning for Istanbul

Rainy and cool weather will be effective across Turkey starting from the beginning of the new week. While the General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a heavy rain warning for 50 provinces, it was stated that temperatures would drop by up to 12 degrees. According to the statement made by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, weather conditions will change across the country this week.

PRECIPITATION STARTS FROM THE EVENING HOURS

Cengiz Çelik, a weather forecasting expert at the General Directorate of Meteorology, said that while there will be no precipitation and temperatures will be above seasonal norms across Turkey on Monday, cool and rainy weather will begin to take effect starting from the western parts of the country in the evening hours.

PRECIPITATION EXPECTED

Çelik stated that precipitation will increase in effect in the western and inner regions of Turkey on Tuesday, and that locally strong thunderstorms will be seen especially in the Marmara, Aegean, and Western Mediterranean regions. Çelik noted that the precipitation will move towards the east on Wednesday, while it will continue in the western and inner regions.

AIR TEMPERATURES ARE DROPPING

With the rainy system moving to the east on Thursday and Friday, temperatures are expected to drop by 4 to 5 degrees in the western regions. At the same time, strong winds will be effective in the western and inner regions.

SPECIAL WARNING FOR ISTANBUL

It was reported that thunderstorms will be effective in Istanbul on Tuesday and Wednesday, excluding Monday. AKOM announced that air temperatures in Istanbul will drop suddenly by up to 12 degrees throughout the week. During this period, temperatures are expected to be between 15-21°C. The public in Istanbul was reminded to be cautious against sudden weather changes.

WEATHER IN THE THREE MAJOR CITIES

In Istanbul, according to the information provided by Çelik, precipitation is expected to be effective on Tuesday and Wednesday. Temperatures will begin to drop as of Wednesday.

PRECIPITATION EXPECTED IN ANKARA

In the capital Ankara, while no precipitation is expected on Monday, thunderstorms will be effective on Tuesday and Wednesday. Çelik stated that temperatures will drop below 20 degrees starting from Thursday.

TEMPERATURE IN IZMIR WILL DROP TO 23 DEGREES

In Izmir, temperatures are expected to be around 26-27 degrees at the beginning of the week. However, by the middle of the week, temperatures are projected to drop to 23-24 degrees. It was stated that precipitation in Izmir will begin tomorrow evening and will be in the form of heavy downpours on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the weather is expected to be partly cloudy.
