Turkey to export e-Government infrastructure worldwide

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that the e-Government Gateway, which began its journey with 22 services, continues in its 16th year with 8 thousand 316 services, adding, "As of today, the e-Government Gateway has reached 8 thousand 316 operations belonging to 1079 institutions and a user count of 66 million 683 thousand 837. 96 out of every 100 people over the age of 15 are currently subscribers to the e-Government Gateway."

In a written statement, Minister Uraloğlu recalled that the e-Government Gateway was established by Türksat AŞ under the auspices of the Ministry. Noting that the 16th anniversary of the e-Government Gateway, which was inaugurated by President Erdoğan on December 18, 2008, is being celebrated, Uraloğlu noted that "since the day it was put into service, the service approach in bureaucracy has been accelerated, and bureaucracy has become a thing of the past."

'INCREASING SERVICE QUALITY'

Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu pointed out that tasks with the state are now performed without waiting in long queues, stating, "Beyond being a service, the e-Government Gateway has paved the way for us to establish a participatory, sharing, and interactive citizen-state relationship. It increases the quality of services offered to citizens by the state and makes it possible for public services to be delivered to individuals more quickly and easily. In fact, e-Government has also strengthened a more efficient service and democratic governance approach. While increasing the quality of life of our citizens on one hand, it has also contributed to reaching disadvantaged segments of society and carrying social development to advanced levels."

'BILLIONS OF LIRAS IN SAVINGS ACHIEVED'

Minister Uraloğlu reminded that 16 years ago, the e-Government Gateway started with 22 services, assessing, "The state's shortcut 'türkiye.gov.tr' has reached 8 thousand 316 operations belonging to 1079 institutions and a user count of 66 million 683 thousand 837 as of today, and 96 out of every 100 people over the age of 15 who could be e-Government users are currently subscribers to the e-Government Gateway. When e-Government service usage statistics are taken into account, it has eliminated many processes that could constitute expenses for both public institutions and organizations and citizens. For our citizens and our state, time, travel, paperwork, and many other expense items in services have now disappeared. Billions of liras in savings have been achieved every year. Considering that there are nearly 11 million user logins every day, it reveals how important a service it is for our citizens."

'4 BILLION LOGINS IN THE FIRST 11 MONTHS OF THE YEAR'

Pointing out that participation in the e-Government Gateway has shown a faster increase every year, Uraloğlu emphasized that innovations in information and communication technologies are effective in every area of economic and social life. Reminding that the number of service logins was 3.1 billion in 2021, Minister Uraloğlu explained that it reached 4 billion in the first 11 months of 2024.

Uraloğlu stated that with the e-Government Gateway, citizens have started to conduct their business with the state via their computers or phones, adding, "It has eliminated the necessity for our people to go door-to-door to public institutions to collect documents. Our citizens can now perform almost all their business through the e-Government Gateway without collecting any documents. Students and their relatives who will register at a university in a province other than the one they live in have been saved from the trouble of traveling and staying."

Minister Uraloğlu underlined that according to the results of the regularly conducted 'e-Government Gateway Satisfaction Survey', 95 percent of citizens use 'türkiye.gov.tr' with satisfaction and appreciation, stating, "According to the European Commission's e-Government Benchmark Report, our country is in the 'Countries with Very High e-Government Development Index' category with a score above the European Union average in e-Government applications. In fact, our country rose 21 places in 2024, becoming the country that made the most progress."

MOST USED SERVICE: SGK REGISTRATION AND SERVICE RECORD

Uraloğlu stated that nearly 4 billion services were received through the e-Government Gateway in the first 11 months of this year, and in this context, the most used service was 'SGK Registration and Service Record/Workplace Title List' with a high rate of 23.64 percent. Reporting that the 'Vehicle License Plate Penalty Inquiry' service ranked 2nd with 10.02 percent, Uraloğlu said, "This year, especially the 'Social Security Institution When Can I Retire Under Normal Conditions' service was also among the most used services. Our citizens used the 'When Can I Retire?' service, which is 9.43 percent of the services they received from the e-Government Gateway, meaning nearly 400 million times. While the 'My Working Life' service ranked 4th with 9.37 percent, the Tax Debt Inquiry and Payment service was 5th with 9.15 percent."

'WE PLAN TO EXPORT E-GOVERNMENT'

Minister Uraloğlu stated that the e-Government Gateway has become one of the world's largest digital government services with nearly 66 million 700 thousand users, saying, "This system, which has become one of Turkey's biggest brands and whose infrastructure was established by Türksat, has now reached a structure that the world looks at with envy. In this context, just as we established the e-government infrastructure of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, we aim to establish the digital government infrastructure of friendly and brotherly countries through Türksat. We plan to export e-Government primarily to countries in our heartland. In fact, I believe that we will significantly increase Turkey's digital service exports by exporting it to all corners of the world in the near future."
