Turkey to swelter! Temperatures to reach 44 degrees: Warning issued by expert

The Meteorological Service has issued a warning against an extreme heatwave that will be effective from June 24 to 29. Temperatures in many cities from the west to the east of Turkey are expected to rise 9 degrees above seasonal norms, making life difficult.

Turkey to swelter! Temperatures to reach 44 degrees: Warning issued by expert

The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued an official warning regarding a severe heatwave that will affect a large part of Turkey. According to the warning, the rise in temperatures, which will begin on Tuesday, June 24, will be particularly effective in the western provinces. Air temperatures are expected to rise 6 to 9 degrees above seasonal norms.

EXPECTED MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES BY PROVINCE

According to the Meteorological Service's forecasts, temperature values in some provinces will reach the following levels:

Ankara: 34°C

Istanbul: 35°C

Izmir: 39°C

Konya: 33°C

Edirne: 39°C

Bursa: 39°C

Aydin: 44°C

Mugla: 40°C

Antalya: 38°C

Adana: 38°C

Diyarbakir: 41°C

These values indicate that temperatures in most of Turkey will reach levels that could directly affect daily life.

WARNING FROM ORHAN SEN: THIS IS A SERIOUS SITUATION

Meteorology expert Prof. Dr. Orhan Sen issued a clear warning against the extreme heat:

“A heatwave is coming to Turkey for the next 5 days. Temperatures will exceed 35 degrees in the Marmara, Aegean, Central Anatolia, Mediterranean, and Southeastern regions. The UV solar radiation index is reaching 8-10. This directly threatens your life. Do not go outside. This is a serious situation. Remember, extreme heat is also a natural disaster.”

WHO SHOULD BE CAREFUL?

Those with chronic illnesses, the elderly, children, and outdoor workers are among the groups most affected by the extreme heat. The Meteorological Service advises these individuals not to be outside during the hottest hours of the day, between 11:00 and 16:00.

Dehydration,

Blood pressure issues,

Respiratory problems,

It can also have serious effects on agriculture, energy consumption, and transportation.
