Turkey under downpours: What will the weather be like in the new week?

Cengiz Çelik, a weather forecasting expert at the General Directorate of Meteorology of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, made an assessment regarding the expected weather conditions for this week. Stating that according to the latest evaluations, thunderstorms will be effective across the country this week, Çelik said that the intensity of the precipitation will be low in the western regions, but locally strong in the central and eastern regions.

Expressing that the precipitation is expected to continue for 1 week, Çelik said, "The precipitation will be strong for 3-4 days, especially in the Eastern Mediterranean, the east of Central Anatolia, the Eastern Black Sea, and the Eastern Anatolia Region."

Çelik stated that temperatures, which are currently hovering at seasonal norms, will drop by 1-2 degrees in the interior parts and will remain at seasonal norms in other parts of the country.

WEATHER IN THE 3 MAJOR CITIES

Emphasizing that partly to very cloudy weather will be effective in Ankara this week, Çelik stated that thunderstorms are expected in the capital on Tuesday and Wednesday. Çelik noted that the highest temperature in the capital this week will be 20 degrees.

Stating that the weather in Istanbul will also be very cloudy, Çelik said, "There may be short-term downpours in the western surroundings and northern parts on Tuesday. The highest temperatures in Istanbul will also be around 20 degrees."

Çelik reported that no precipitation is expected in İzmir for the next 3-4 days, and temperatures will be around 26-27 degrees.
