Turkish delegation heading to Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed last October that Russian gas be safely transported to Europe via a gas hub to be created in Turkey, a proposal that was welcomed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

While both the Russian and Turkish sides continue their efforts to realize the project, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak provided information on the latest developments.

Speaking to Russian television, Novak expressed his hope that the project would be implemented in the near future, stating, "There is currently an agreement on the roadmap, and the Turkish delegation plans to come to St. Petersburg to learn about the work on the Russian side. I am sure that an agreement for the practical implementation of this project will be reached in the near future."

While Novak recently stated that an agreement on the project could be reached this year, Russian President Vladimir Putin had previously said regarding the project, "We can establish a large natural gas hub in Turkey for Europe. No intervention in oil markets and no use of reserves can solve the energy problem. Russia is ready to supply energy to Europe; the ball is in their court."
