Turkish officials discuss water issues in Iran
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Ebubekir Gizligider made statements regarding water issues in Iran's capital, Tehran. Gizligider stated that they came to work on transboundary waters and cooperation on water-related matters.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Ebubekir Gizligider, who visited Iran for official talks and to discuss water issues, addressed cooperation on water between the two countries with delegations led by Iranian Deputy Minister of Energy Mohammad Javanbakht.
Speaking after the meeting, Deputy Minister Gizligider stated that they came to work on transboundary waters and cooperation on water as a requirement of joint efforts.
"WE WILL NOT CAUSE ANY GRIEVANCE"
Gizligider said, "In this context, as delegations of the two countries, we have reiterated and renewed our will to work together. We hope that our technical teams will work together and that no issues of disagreement will remain as a result of these efforts."
Noting that the meeting, which was planned to be held last year, could only take place today due to the earthquakes that occurred in Turkey in February and the election processes, Gizligider said, "Just as Turkey has never caused any grievance to its neighbors for a thousand years, it will not do so in the future either."
Emphasizing that they also addressed the issue of drought and climate change, Deputy Minister Gizligider assessed, "Drought has now become one of the greatest problems of the world and humanity, regardless of geographies or borders."
Expressing that they are ready to share their experience with Iran on water efficiency, Gizligider stated that it is planned for the delegations to meet in Turkey in the coming period.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Gizligider's official contacts in Iran will continue tomorrow.
