Turkish passengers stranded for hours
Hundreds of Turkish passengers traveling on a car train bound for Villach (Austria) have been stranded in Bulgaria for two days due to protests in Serbia.
The train, which set off for Villach via Optima Express and was carrying the cars of Turkish expatriates, has been stranded in Bulgaria due to a protest taking place in Serbia.
Nearly 500 Turkish passengers have been held for 48 hours due to a work stoppage by Serbian workers protesting a train accident that occurred in the Plovdiv-Yagadovo region on November 1.
WAITING PERIOD EXTENDED
Hundreds of Turkish passengers who set off with Optima Express have been waiting to move for two days. The train is carrying passengers along with 140 vehicles, and it is still unknown when these passengers will be able to depart from Bulgaria. In the Plovdiv-Yagadovo region where the train is waiting, nearly 500 passengers have been stranded in distress since 01:00.
NO STATEMENT FROM AUTHORITIES
Optima Tur staff have not made a statement regarding the situation of the passengers and have been unable to provide information on when the wait will end. Assistance has been requested from the authorities to find a solution to the passengers' situation.
