Two friends who came to fish in Sarıyer go missing at sea

The incident occurred around 00:30 in Rumeli Hisarı. According to allegations, one of the two people, whose names have not yet been determined, came to the shore to fish and approached the edge too closely despite warnings. His friend jumped into the water to save him after he lost his balance and fell. Unable to get out of the water due to the strong waves, both individuals went missing in the waters of the Bosphorus. Upon notification, divers from the Coast Guard and Fire Department's underwater search teams arrived at the scene. While efforts to rescue the two friends have been ongoing since the night hours, the missing individuals have not yet been found.

“WE TOLD HIM TO MOVE AWAY, HE DIDN'T CARE”

Orhan Uslu, who stated that he was fishing at the time of the incident and warned them not to fall into the sea, said, “We were fishing here in the evening. They were right next to us. There were very strong waves. The boy had a moment of distraction. He approached the shore. He was going to pull in a fish. We told him not to get that close, to move away or he would fall, but he didn't care.

At that moment, he was distracted. He lost his balance and fell into the sea. His friend jumped in after him to save him, but in the blink of an eye, both of them disappeared. It happened between 11:30 PM and 12:00 AM. Then we called the Coast Guard and the police, but it was too late. They have been searching since yesterday, and there is still no sign of them.

I don't think they are around here either. The waves were very strong yesterday. May God give their families patience,” he said.

While an investigation into the incident has been initiated, the underwater search and rescue teams' efforts to find the two missing friends continue.
