Two MPs defy Kılıçdaroğlu in CHP: 'Do not include us in that CEC'

Following the judiciary's 'absolute nullity' ruling, the forced entry of police into the CHP Headquarters has been the final straw within the party. Ali Öztunç and Gürsel Erol, who were rumored to be part of the new administration Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu is attempting to form, called the Chief of Staff and issued an ultimatum: "Remove us from the CEC."

Halktv columnist İsmail Saymaz revealed the behind-the-scenes details of the crisis that has shaken the party. Stating that Kılıçdaroğlu is preparing to form a pirate Central Executive Committee (CEC) via the former Party Assembly, Saymaz shared striking inside information:

"News reached the MPs that Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu would include CHP Kahramanmaraş MP Ali Öztunç and CHP Elazığ MP Gürsel Erol in this new CEC he is forming, and that they would be part of his close working team. However, both figures, angered by the police being brought into the party, immediately called Kılıçdaroğlu's chief of staff and rejected the list in harsh terms, saying, 'Remove us from that CEC; we are absolutely not taking part in this administration.'"

ALİ ÖZTUNÇ BREAKS HIS SILENCE: "WHAT MATTERS IS THE PARTY, NOT INDIVIDUALS"

Ali Öztunç, who refused to be part of Kılıçdaroğlu's team, rebelled against the police blockade of the headquarters building in a special statement to İsmail Saymaz. Öztunç used the following expressions:

"The entry of police into the Republican People's Party is unacceptable under any circumstances. We have made a great effort until the very last moment to ensure there is unity in this party and that the march to power continues shoulder to shoulder. However, we have seen that this unity can no longer be achieved. I grew up in the youth branches of this party, and I have been under this emblem since my childhood. For me, what always matters is the party itself, not individuals!"
