Two officials from the Provincial Special Administration arrested in Bolu fire tragedy: Number of detainees reaches 21

Two more people detained in connection with the hotel fire at the Bolu Kartalkaya Ski Center have been arrested. The number of people arrested in connection with the tragedy has risen to 21.

In the fire that broke out on the night of January 21 at the Grand Kartal Hotel in the Kartalkaya Ski Center in Bolu, 78 people lost their lives.

Within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Bolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 28 people were detained.

Among them, 19 suspects, including hotel owner Halit Ergül, general manager Emir Aras, Bolu Deputy Mayor responsible for the fire department Sedat Gülener, and acting Fire Department Chief Kenan Coşkun, were arrested. The other suspects were released under judicial control conditions.

NUMBER OF DETAINEES REACHES 21

As part of the investigation, Provincial Special Administration Secretary General Sırrı Köstereli and Deputy Secretary General Bünyamin Bal were the latest to be detained late last night.

After their procedures at the gendarmerie, Sırrı Köstereli and Bünyamin Bal were referred to the Bolu Courthouse, and following their statements at the prosecutor's office, they were referred to the duty court with a request for arrest.

The duty Criminal Court of Peace issued an arrest warrant for Köstereli and Bal. Following the court decision, Bal and Köstereli were sent to prison. The number of people arrested in relation to the case has risen to 21.
