UAE decides on $100 million aid package for Lebanon

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced that it will provide $100 million in emergency aid to Lebanon. According to a report by the official UAE news agency WAM, President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan issued the instructions for this aid. It was stated that the assistance demonstrates the UAE's commitment to supporting Lebanon.

This announcement comes on the same day that the UN's World Food Programme (WFP) launched an emergency food operation to reach more than one million people affected by the conflict in Lebanon. The WFP had reported that it needed $105 million for these operations.

The situation in Lebanon remains tense; 1,178 people have lost their lives in recent Israeli attacks. The clashes with Hezbollah, which have been ongoing since October 8, 2023, have led to the displacement of hundreds of thousands of people across the country. Due to Israeli bombardment, there is also significant migration from Lebanon to Syria. Hezbollah is responding to Israel with rocket and missile attacks, though no major damage has been reported on the Israeli side.
