UN supports PKK's decision to lay down arms

The historic decision by the terrorist organization PKK to lay down its arms and disband has been widely discussed not only in Turkey but also by the international community. Following the decision taken by the separatist organization, a notable statement also came from the United Nations.

GUTERRES: WE WELCOME IT

It was reported that UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres views the decision taken by the PKK positively. The statement was made by UN Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric. In his assessment during the daily press briefing in New York, Dujarric used the following expressions:

“The Secretary-General welcomes the decision of the terrorist organization PKK to disband and lay down its arms.”

“AN IMPORTANT STEP TOWARD RESOLVING THE CONFLICT”

The statement noted that Guterres expressed his “belief that with the implementation of this decision, another important step will have been taken on the path toward resolving the long-standing armed conflict.”
