Unauthorized siren and emergency lane inspection: 5.1 million lira in fines issued

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya announced the details of the inspections targeting drivers who use unauthorized sirens and violate the emergency lane via X.

Yerlikaya stated the following:

“Our inspections against drivers who install and use devices with light or sound warning signals on vehicles not permitted by legislation (siren lamps) or who violate the emergency lane will continue without interruption!

Under the coordination of the General Directorate of Security Traffic Department, in inspections conducted by 81 Provincial Traffic Inspection Branch Directorates between January 01-26, 2024, against individuals who 'install and use devices with light or sound warning signals on vehicles not permitted by legislation';

807 drivers were identified, and the devices with light and sound warning signals (siren lamps) on their vehicles were removed,

5 million 196 thousand TL in fines were imposed."
