The police procedures for Y.K. and his niece Z.A., who were detained after attacking and damaging the Atatürk Monument in Cumhuriyet Square in Kayseri yesterday (June 16) with an axe, have been completed.

The uncle and niece, who underwent health checks at Kayseri State Hospital, were taken to the courthouse.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Those who saw two people damaging the Atatürk Monument with an axe yesterday called the 112 Emergency Call Center, and police teams arriving at the scene apprehended Y.K. and his niece Z.A.

During the examination by police teams and Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality municipal police personnel, 13 impact marks were detected on the monument. Municipal workers have since removed the impact marks from the monument.
