Unexpected question for Özgür Özel: 'Will your turn come too?'
Meeting with citizens in Bilecik, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel responded to the question, "Mr. Chairman, will your turn come too?" by saying, "Those who fear iron do not board the train, my brother."
Republican People's Party (CHP) Chairman Özgür Özel had a notable exchange while chatting with citizens following his program in Bilecik. One of the citizens surrounding him asked, "Mr. Chairman, will your turn come too?"—a question interpreted as a reference to recent developments on the political agenda.
Özel responded with a smile, saying, "Those who fear iron do not board the train, my brother." The dialogue was recorded by people nearby on their mobile phone cameras.
THE RESPONSE: "THOSE WHO FEAR IRON DO NOT BOARD THE TRAIN, MY BROTHER"
Speaking in response to the question asked during the conversation after his program in Bilecik, Özgür Özel made a brief assessment. Özel's words, "Those who fear iron do not board the train, my brother," were shared alongside the footage that became a trending topic on social media.
EXPECTED TO ATTEND HIS FINAL GROUP MEETING TODAY
According to information circulating in political circles, it is stated that the absolute nullity objection filed by Özgür Özel to the Court of Cassation has been postponed to the autumn term due to the judicial recess. Following this development, it is reported that Özel, who previously announced he would form a new political party if his application yielded no results, has accelerated his preparations.
It is also noted that Özel is expected to attend the group meeting to be held in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) today for the last time as CHP Chairman.
According to information reflected in the corridors, the establishment petition for the new party that Özgür Özel will form is expected to be submitted to the Ministry of Interior on Monday, July 27.
According to the same claims, it is suggested that the name of the party will be "New Party" and that the Founders' Board will consist primarily of members of parliament.
CONSECUTIVE MEETINGS FOR THE NEW ROADMAP
It is stated that Özgür Özel will hold comprehensive discussions regarding the new party process following the group meeting.
In this context, it is reported that Özel is expected to first meet with the provincial chairmen who served during his own chairmanship, and subsequently organize meetings with the Party Assembly and Central Executive Board members who served during the same period.
CLAIMED THAT HE MAY SET OUT WITH 80 MPS
According to claims voiced in political circles, it is stated that the new party could be established with the participation of approximately 80 members of parliament.
It is noted that if this scenario is realized, the political balance in the TBMM could change, and the party to be formed by Özgür Özel could become the main opposition. Furthermore, it is suggested that some figures within the CHP organization who support Özel are also expected to join the new party.
AK Party Deputy Chairman Leyla Şahin Usta also made statements regarding the immunity discussions that have come to the public agenda.
Stating that the goal is to complete the regulations on the agenda before the legislative year of the TBMM ends, Usta addressed the claims that the immunities of some CHP deputies, including Özgür Özel, would be lifted.
