The US Department of State has updated its security advisory regarding Turkey following the ongoing war between the US-Israel and Iran. The Department has requested that certain personnel and their families stationed at the US Consulate in Adana leave the region as a precautionary measure.

GENERAL ADVISORY FOR TURKEY REMAINS UNCHANGED

In the statement released by the Department, it was noted that there has been no change to the overall travel advisory level for Turkey. However, it was stated that the risk assessment for the Southeastern Anatolia region has been reiterated.


The statement said, "The travel advisory level for the Southeastern region of Turkey has been raised to 'do not travel' status."

DEPARTURE DECISION FOR PERSONNEL IN ADANA

The US Department of State announced that certain measures have been implemented in diplomatic operations due to increasing security risks in the region. In this context, a special directive was issued for personnel serving at the US Consulate in Adana.

The statement included the following:

"However, the Travel Advisory has been updated to reflect changes in US mission operations in the region of increased risk in Southeast Turkey.

President Trump, Secretary of State Rubio, and the Department of State's highest priority is the safety and security of American citizens.

On March 9, 2026, the Department of State ordered the departure of non-emergency US government employees and family members from the Adana Consulate as a precaution."
