Verdict reached for aunt who locked her nephew in a 'trash house'! Her sentence has been determined...

The hearing at the Bursa 10th High Criminal Court, which was closed to the press due to a confidentiality order, was attended by the non-custodial defendant aunt, Kamuran Pınar A. (46), who faced up to 30 years and 6 months in prison for the charges of "deprivation of liberty," "attempted intentional homicide by omission," and "torture against a child," along with the lawyers of the parties. The other defendant, Kamuran Pınar A.'s daughter, the juvenile offender E.Z.A. (17), did not attend the hearing.

The court panel sentenced Kamuran Pınar A. to 7 years for the crime of "torture" and 8 years for the crime of "deprivation of liberty against a child using force, threat, or deception," totaling 15 years in prison. Her daughter, E.Z.A., was sentenced to 2 years, 2 months, and 20 days in prison for the crime of "deprivation of liberty against a child."

Kamuran Pınar A. was acquitted of the charge of "attempted intentional homicide by omission."

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

Aydın S., who rented his apartment in Bursa to Kamuran Pınar A., had filed a lawsuit against the woman for failing to pay rent. After the court ordered the eviction of the house, the enforcement team that went to the address had the door of the apartment opened with the help of a locksmith.

Kamuran Pınar A., who did not comply with the court's eviction order by changing the locks of the house, had her statement taken by the police. Meanwhile, Nilüfer Municipality cleaning staff, who were notified to clean the house filled with trash, found the male child C.M.A. unconscious in a locked room among the trash in July 2022, noting that his health condition was poor.

It was determined that the child's mother was Kamuran Pınar A.'s sister, Yasemin A., and C.M.A. was handed over to his mother living in Antalya by the prosecutor's office. Later, C.M.A. and Kamuran Pınar A.'s daughter, E.Z.A., were taken under protection by the Provincial Directorates of Family and Social Services. C.M.A. was taken for treatment at Akdeniz University Hospital.

Kamuran Pınar A., who was arrested, was released under judicial control while the trial was ongoing.

Separate lawsuits were filed against the defendant Kamuran Pınar A. and her daughter E.Z.A., and it was decided to merge these two files, which had factual and legal connections.
