The hearing of the case, held at the Istanbul Anatolian 8th High Criminal Court, began at 16:30. Zehra Kınık was brought to the courtroom under police escort. The prosecution had requested a prison sentence ranging from 2 to 15 years for Kınık.

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
On July 9, 2024, in the Beykoz district of Istanbul, a car driven by Fatma Zehra Kınık Demir collided with a motorcycle driven by 17-year-old Yavuz Selim Öztürk. 17-year-old Batın Barlasçeki, who was riding on the back of the motorcycle, died in the hospital. Kınık, who was detained after the accident, was released to be tried without arrest.
