Verdict reached for suspect who held factory workers hostage
The individual who held 7 workers hostage for hours at the P&G factory in the Gebze district of Kocaeli has been arrested by the court.
The incident occurred on February 1 at approximately 14:40 at the Procter&Gamble (P&G) factory located on İhsan Dede Street in the Gebze Organized Industrial Zone (GOSB).
Workers at the factory, which operates in the cleaning and personal care products sector, were taken hostage by İbrahim Y.
Following this, numerous police and gendarmerie units, including special operations teams, as well as medical teams, were dispatched to the scene. An operation was carried out at approximately 23:40 in the evening while İbrahim Y. had stepped away from the hostages to use the restroom.

INTENDED TO PROTEST ATTACKS ON GAZA
While the 7 hostages were rescued, İbrahim Y. was taken into custody. It was alleged that the suspect carried out this act to protest Israel's attacks on Gaza.
Upon the instructions of the Kocaeli Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, E.Y., A.K., and U.A. were also taken into custody in connection with the incident. After completing their procedures at the police station, the suspects were referred to the courthouse; E.Y. was released following questioning by the prosecutor, while A.K. and U.A. were released under judicial control conditions, and İbrahim Y. was arrested.
