Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz answered the question on everyone's mind: Is a tax coming to the stock market?

Claims that a tax will be imposed on the stock market continue to be debated. Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek had previously stated that there would be no income tax, but that there might be a nominal transaction tax, and that nothing had been finalized yet.

As the claims regarding a tax on the stock market remain on the agenda, a statement also came from Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz.

WILL THERE BE A TRANSACTION TAX ON THE STOCK MARKET?

Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz stated the following during a live broadcast on NTV:

"The tax regulations we will implement contain proposals that will not increase inflation but will reduce informality. We see very speculative statements on social media. Rumors should not be given credence unless announced by the authorities.

Discussions are being held regarding collecting a nominal amount on transactions made in the stock market.

There is no tax on earnings in the stock market. There is only a discussion about whether there will be a 1 in 10,000 rate as a transaction fee."
