Statement on Syria from Vice President Yılmaz

Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz made a statement regarding the developments in Syria. Sharing his assessments via his social media account, Yılmaz stated, "The events occurring in Syria in recent days sadden us all. Those who are attempting to pit the Syrian people, who are our brothers and sisters in all their elements, against each other through ethnic and sectarian identities and disrupt their stability will not succeed. Neither the remnants of the old regime nor any kind of entity acting outside the law will be able to block Syria's historic transformation toward an inclusive political structure. Efforts to incite sectarian provocation in our country through Syria are also doomed to fail in the face of our nation's discernment and the power of our state."

Yılmaz wrote the following:

"As the Republic of Türkiye, we will continue to defend the security, unity, and rights of all citizens of our neighbor Syria, regardless of their religion, sect, or ethnic identity. A stable and prosperous Syria in unity is not only our fraternal wish but also a requirement of our country's national interests. As the Syrian government and its institutions grow stronger, the stability of our neighbor Syria will also be strengthened. If there are those looking for culprits outside for the incidents occurring in Syria, it will be sufficient for them to look at who wants an unstable and weak Syria."
