Afghan national kills Uzbek woman he was drinking with in Fatih, Istanbul!

Suspect Mohamad Z.U. (26), who killed one of two women he was drinking with and severely injured the other in Fatih, Istanbul, has been apprehended by police. While being transferred to the courthouse, the suspect claimed, "It happened unintentionally." It was learned that Fatıma M. (38), who survived the incident with injuries, stated, "We were drinking together. Suddenly, he pulled out his knife and attacked us. I escaped to another room, locked the door, and survived the incident with injuries."

In an incident that occurred in the Mollagürani neighborhood of Fatih on January 21, 2024, at approximately 01:20, police teams responding to a report found Uzbek national Shakhonaza Kurbanova (34) stabbed to death. Fatıma M. (38), who was in another room in the same house, was taken to the hospital with injuries.

ESCAPED DEATH BY RUNNING TO ANOTHER ROOM AND LOCKING THE DOOR

In the investigation launched by the Homicide Bureau, the statement of the injured Fatıma M. was taken. Fatıma M. said, "I was staying in the same house with my friend. In the evening, a person I knew as 'Zeki' came to the house. We were drinking together. Later, an argument broke out between us. The person who came from outside suddenly pulled out his knife and attacked me and my friend. I pushed him, ran into another room of the house, and locked the door. I called the police."

APPREHENDED SUSPECT SAID "IT HAPPENED UNINTENTIONALLY"

The investigation conducted by the police determined that the person who came to the house was Afghan national Mohamad Z.U., who used the alias "Zeki." Police detained the suspect at the house where he was hiding in Güngören. The suspect was brought to the Homicide Bureau and interrogated regarding the incident. It was learned that the suspect stated he did not fully remember what he did due to the influence of alcohol and that he regretted the incident. 

The suspect, whose procedures at the police station were completed, was transferred to the courthouse. When asked "Why did you do it?" the suspect replied, "It happened unintentionally."
