A magnitude 4 earthquake occurred in the Yayladağı district of Hatay.

According to information on the website of the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), a tremor with a magnitude of 4 was recorded at 07:08, with its epicenter in the Yayladağı district of Hatay.

It was determined that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 13.3 kilometers.

 

 

"A SOUND LIKE A RUMBLE CAME AND IT REMINDED US OF FEBRUARY 6"

According to reports by İHA, Mehmet Çelik Yürek, who felt the earthquake, said, "I was sitting in the shop. A sound like a rumble came and passed. It reminds me of February 6. We get anxious as February 6 approaches."

"WE THOUGHT WE HAD FORGOTTEN THE EARTHQUAKE BUT IT CAME BACK"

Stating that they thought they had forgotten the earthquake but were reminded of it, Mehmet Koşar said, "We thought we had forgotten the earthquake, but it came back. This earthquake reminded us of the night of February 6 once again."

STATEMENT FROM THE HATAY GOVERNOR'S OFFICE

In a statement made by the Hatay Governor's Office, it was reported that according to initial assessments, no negative situation occurred due to the earthquake.

The statement noted the following:

"In accordance with the information received from the AFAD Earthquake Department, a magnitude 4.0 earthquake centered in Yayladağı (Hatay) has occurred, and according to initial assessments, there is no negative situation and no reports have been received by the 112 Emergency Call Center."
