'Justice Vigil' begins in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey

While the repercussions continue following the Court of Cassation's claim that the Constitutional Court (AYM) violated the constitution with its Can Atalay ruling and its subsequent filing of a criminal complaint against the members of the high court, the TBMM General Assembly is now the scene of a protest by CHP members. The CHP, which protested the Court of Cassation's decision by banging on desks during the speech of CHP Aydın Deputy Bülent Tezcan, began a "justice" vigil following the adjournment of the TBMM General Assembly.

ÖZGÜR ÖZEL TO JOIN IN THE COMING HOURS

Following the controversial Court of Cassation decision, the CHP held an extraordinary meeting yesterday, and Chairman Özgür Özel had called on Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş to convene the Parliamentary Advisory Board today regarding the judicial ruling. Although it was reported that the Advisory Board would meet in an extraordinary session at 17:00, Özgür Özel stated that the meeting would not take place and declared, "We are beginning an action of not leaving the TBMM General Assembly."

TBMM Deputy Speaker Sırrı Süreyya Önder also came to support the CHP deputies. While 25 CHP deputies are participating in the justice vigil, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel will also join the action in the coming hours.
