Defendant who killed 3 women captured: Those moments on camera
In Adana, Şemsettin Erkuvan, who shot and killed his daughter-in-law and her family at a cemetery, holding them responsible for his son's death, has begun standing trial on charges of causing the deaths of 3 women.
In Adana, 47-year-old Şemsettin Erkuvan, who shot and killed his daughter-in-law, her mother, and her sister at a cemetery, holding them responsible for his son's suicide, has begun standing trial on charges of three counts of life imprisonment and possession of an unlicensed firearm. Following the death of his son Muzaffer, Erkuvan harbored a grudge against his daughter-in-law Güldane and her family, blaming them for the incident. On October 21, 2024, while visiting Muzaffer's grave, Güldane, her mother Şenay, and her sister Gaye were followed and killed by Şemsettin Erkuvan.
During the hearing, Erkuvan expressed regret, arguing that the incident occurred in a moment of anger. Describing the difficulties he faced before his son Muzaffer's death and the impact on his family, Erkuvan claimed he had no intention to kill and was only trying to find out who was responsible for his son's death. The sole witness to the incident, 16-year-old E.G., described in detail how her family was killed. The prosecutor requested that Erkuvan be sentenced to life imprisonment for the 'intentional killing' of the 3 women. The court decided to continue his detention and adjourned the hearing to a later date.
