Driver who failed to yield to ambulance receives 4 separate fines
In Istanbul's Maltepe district, a driver who failed to yield to an ambulance despite warnings was fined 1,823 Turkish Lira.
According to a statement from the Istanbul Police Department, an investigation was launched by Traffic Inspection Branch officers into footage shared on certain social media platforms regarding the incident on December 6.
FAILED TO YIELD DESPITE AMBULANCE WARNINGS
As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the driver of the vehicle, identified as O.M.H., occupied the left lane and failed to yield to an ambulance traveling in the same lane on the D-100 North Road in the district, despite the necessary siren warnings.
The driver, who was apprehended by police, was issued a total of 1,823 Turkish Lira in administrative fines: 436 lira for "failing to yield to vehicles with right-of-way despite receiving visible or audible signals," 436 lira for "driving in a disrespectful manner," and 951 lira for "continuously violating the left lane."
Istanbul Governor Davut Gül also shared a post on his X social media account that included footage of the incident. Gül stated that the driver had been fined and thanked the Istanbul Police Department.
