Explosive claim regarding CHP's 'alternative' plan: 'If Ekrem Bey's diploma is invalidated, Dilek İmamoğlu will be the candidate'

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu will participate as the sole candidate in the CHP's primary election on March 23 to determine its presidential candidate.

Following his official application, a new investigation was launched into İmamoğlu over allegations that his university diploma is fake.

A striking claim has been made regarding the CHP's alternative plan should the course of this investigation result in a verdict against Mayor İmamoğlu.

Journalist Nuray Başaran, a guest on the program Hayata Dair with Cansu Canan Özgen on the tv100 channel, stated, "I heard that if Ekrem Bey's diploma is considered invalid, Dilek İmamoğlu will be the candidate. I was very surprised."

Stating, "I believe Ekrem İmamoğlu's diploma will be considered invalid," Başaran continued:

"Of course, there are legal stages to this. I am not discussing them because we do not have time. But I want to share some inside information here. I mean, I thought it was a joke, but they told me it was being seriously considered. I heard that if Ekrem Bey's diploma is considered invalid, Dilek İmamoğlu will be the candidate. I was very surprised. We will be discussing this in the coming days. Meetings have been held regarding this; it seemed like a joke to me, but no, it is being discussed seriously."
