The issue of brain drain, one of Turkey's chronic problems, was discussed at the Teke Tek Bilim talk show held at the Istanbul Planning Agency (İPA).
The guests of the program, moderated by Fatih Altaylı, were Prof. Dr. Celal Şengör and Dr. Ufuk Akçiğit from the University of Chicago, who examined the causes and consequences of brain drain in depth.
BRAIN DRAIN DISCUSSED
The event was organized as part of the Spark Summit (Kıvılcım Zirvesi), held in cooperation with the Bi Dünya Kıvılcım Association, the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), İPA, and İTÜ Arı Teknokent. During the talk, Dr. Ufuk Akçiğit pointed out that educated individuals leaving the country are experts in critical fields such as science, communication technologies, engineering, and natural sciences, noting that this situation represents a major loss for Turkey.
Moved by the data shared by Akçiğit, Fatih Altaylı could not hold back his tears, saying, "This picture has saddened me deeply. However, none of us are giving up."

'WE WILL NOT GIVE UP'
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, who followed the program on-site, supported Altaylı, saying, "We will not give up," and stated that projects aimed at young people would be continued with determination by the İBB.
