He believed the voice of a fake police officer and handed over his life savings with his own hands

A person who called 44-year-old construction worker E.B. in Küçükçekmece introduced himself as a police officer. He then told E.B. that his name and his family's names were involved in a terrorist organization investigation. He claimed that the police were planning an operation in this context and that any cash, gold, or foreign currency in his home needed to be handed over to the police for safekeeping. E.B. handed over 1 million liras, the result of years of hard work, to the fraudster who came to his door. After the money was taken, the phone line went dead and was never answered again. Realizing he had been defrauded, E.B. immediately reported the situation to the police. 

ARRESTED

Upon the report, teams from the Public Security Branch Office's Fraud Bureau launched an investigation. The identity of the suspect who came to collect the money was determined through the examination of camera footage. The suspect, Abdullah O., was detained in an operation carried out the day before yesterday. The suspect, who was learned to have a criminal record for 37 separate offenses, was arrested by the court and sent to prison.
