He released a 2 million TL fish back into the sea
A fisherman hunting off the coast of Bartın caught a Siberian sturgeon, whose caviar is worth 2 million TL. Surprised, the fisherman released the endangered fish back into the sea.
Off the coast of the Amasra district of Bartın a fisherman named Cem Yavuzyiğit, who went out to hunt for whiting, caught a Siberian sturgeon in the Ahatlar area, which has caviar worth 2 million TL.
HE RELEASED THE FISH BACK INTO THE SEA
Yavuzyiğit, who took a souvenir video with the fish—which is typically found in rivers where they flow into the sea in the Siberian region—released the fish back into the sea. Stating that he had encountered the same fish for the second time this season, fisherman Yavuzyiğit said, "I was actually very surprised when I saw it. It is not a fish normally found in this region. It has come across my path for the second time. Since I know that its species is endangered, I hosted it for a very short time. I immediately released it back into the sea. If we hunt fish that are prohibited from being caught, and if we cannot protect these different species, we will both destroy the fish diversity in the Black Sea and leave a less productive sea for future generations."
Cem Yavuzyiğit and the fishermen accompanying him continued their whiting hunt in the area after releasing the Siberian sturgeon back into the sea.
