Individual with suspicious bag neutralized by police in Kızılay

Around 23:30 at night, an individual with a backpack, identified as 29-year-old Y.E.Ş., who ran toward police officers patrolling near the Ministry of Interior and failed to comply with security forces' "stop" warnings, was neutralized.

Following the incident, police teams closed the streets and main roads near the ministry to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya shared a post on his social media account regarding the incident in Kızılay. Yerlikaya provided information about the individual who carried out the act.

Yerlikaya's post was as follows:

"At 23:30 tonight, a 29-year-old individual named Y.E.Ş., carrying a backpack, who was acting suspiciously and running toward our police officers on duty on Vekâletler Street, did not comply with the stop warning and was apprehended by our security forces after being wounded.

The individual has been taken to the hospital.

An investigation revealed that a missing person report had been filed for the individual by their family on December 11, 2023, and that they were receiving psychological treatment.

The public will be informed of further developments."
